Yet the character and feel of the cottage has remained intact. Our host Maureen made us feel very welcome and very much at home. Every morning we enjoyed a continental breakfast with a selection of cereals, fruits, and toast. In addition Maureen served her own delicious pikelets/pancakes every morning, which I greedily devoured. Maureen also gave us some good tips on where to eat and places to visit. Maureen was a very accomodating host, and nothing was to much trouble, which was reflected in Reid’s Cottage. Cosy, comfortable, clean and everything you would want. Because of it’s age and heritage restrictions, there is no sink in the little kitchenette, but we didn’t miss that. Easy walking distance to the Main Street and shops. In relation to Richmond itself, very old and historic, with many old buildings to admire. Overall a great stay, thank you Maureen. We will miss our morning chats.

A great place for a weekend getaway. But for travellers, some things to note: this cottage had no available laundry facilities, so the closest laundrette is a 15 minute drive to Sorrell. Also this cottage had no cooking facilities (there is a large bar fridge & easy access to a very nice BBQ area), and dinner options in Richmond are limited to the pub (which was OK) and one cafe on Fri & Sat nights (which was excellent). I can't comment on the other cottages, but the other guests we met at breakfast seemed quite happy with their experiences.
Richmond is very quiet, & convenient for accessing Port Arthur as well as many vineyards & culinary sites. More
